Swimming Disaster
I’m a counselor at a day camp near my house. My crush worked there, too! One day my crush and I were in the lake teaching swimming lessons. As I teaching one of the little kids to doggy paddle, he said, “Hey what’s that string,” and then pulled something off of bathing suit. It was my tampon! All the kids started screaming and my crush was so grossed out! He avoided me for the rest of the summer! —Alexis, 15 |

Pool Pad
I was so excited when my crush spent my entire birthday party talking to me by the pool. We were having a blast until my dog, Zoey, a huge Golden Retriever, wanted to play with us. My crush began petting her and stroking her belly when he noticed something in her mouth. He pried open her mouth and found a rolled up, old Maxi pad. Zoey must have gone exploring in one of the bathroom garbage cans. It was soo gross!!! My crush threw the bloddy pad across the patio into the pool, said he wasn’t feeling well and headed home. —Nicole, 13 |

Poop Pool
I decided to have a pool party at my house for my birthday. I invited a bunch of friends from school, including my crush. The day of the party we were all swimming and having so much fun. My crush kept flirting with me by splashing me with water — I just knew he was gonna ask me out later! My mom decided to let our huge golden lab, Casey, go swimming because it was so hot out. She had also mistakenly let Casey eat a big piece of my birthday cake. Casey got sick and pooped all over the pool! Everyone was so grossed out they left my party. Not only did my crush never ask me out, the whole school knew about the poopy pool incident on Monday! —Liz, 12 |

Carnival Chunks
All school year long I waited and waited for my super-hot crush to ask me out on a date. Finally the day of my school’s end of the year carnival he asked me out. That night we went to the carnival and things were going awesome! We ate cotton candy, corndogs and a funnel cake! A little while later we decided to go on the ferris wheel, even though he was deathly afraid of heights. While we were up his nerves started to get the best of him and all of a sudden, just as my crush leaned in to kiss me, he blew brown chunks all over my face! Chin Guard?
One day my best friend and I were really bored and decided to try and hang out with her older brother and his cute friends in the basement. We both had huge crushes on his friends and got dressed up in really cute outfits to go flirt with them. Her brother, like always, got really mad that we were hanging around and he started yelling at her. Their mom heard and made them both come upstairs to talk to her. I decided to take this opportunity to score some extra points with the guys. I saw my BFF’s brother’s football gear and started asking really girly questions about football and what all the pads were for. I saw something that looked like a chin protector and put it up to my chin and was asking the guys how it stays on when they all started cracking up. I just thought I was being funny and cute and did not think anything of it until I saw my friends face as she came back downstairs. She yelled at me to put it down and pulled me upstairs. Once we were in her room she explained that it was not a chin protector, but a USED, smelly guy’s protective cup that I had on my face!! It had sweat stains and everything! GROSS!! —Sam, 13 |

Tanning Trauma
A few days before my school’s spring dance my best friend and I decided to get spray tans for the first time. Before we went we had lunch at this Mexican restaurant next door and had a feast of nachos and quesadillas. As I stripped down to prepare for my tan I suddenly felt very queasy. I figured it could wait a few minutes while I was in the booth and jumped in. Because it was my first time spray tanning I was caught off guard by the smelly spray and accidentally inhaled. I threw up all over the booth while it continued to spray. I flung open the door, getting the spray tanning solution and my throw up everywhere. I tried to clean up with the one small towel they give you and got out of there as fast as I could. Needless to say I have never gone back there and ended up with the streakiest tan ever. —Kristen, 14 |

Tampon Trauma
My best friend had free passes to the local YMCA pool. She invited me along with a few of our friends including my crush! As I was showing off the complicated butterfly stoke, I heard everyone hysterically laughing, including my crush. I was so confused then he yelled, “Look what’s in your hair!” I touched my hair and there was a used tampon tangled in my locks! It was so gross! I washed my hair like fifty times when I got home. —Christina, 14 |

Lunch PERIOD
One day at school I was walking to lunch with this guy I didn’t really know too well. Everyone said he was mean, but he seemed fine to me. So we walked into the cafeteria and I guess my pad fell out of my book bag without me knowing. Somehow he got it and after I sat down at the lunch table he threw an open pad in front of me that had been covered in ketchup, and yelled “Cindy YOU DROPPED YOUR PAD!” I was mortified. It was bad enough he covered it in ketchup but it was also huge because I had to borrow my mom’s super big overnight pads. —Jackie, 14 |
